What is Reiki?

When experiencing pain, one of the first things people do is put their hands on the area in pain. A child who is hurt wants her mother to touch it (or kiss it) to make it better. A mother’s instinct is to place her hands on her child’s head when the child is feverish or ill. Human touch conveys healing, warmth, love, and serenity. The body radiates warmth and energy. This is life force energy. A Reiki practitioner has been attuned and therefore has had his/her body’s energy channels opened and cleared of obstructions by the Reiki attunements. The Reiki practitioner not only receives an increase in this life energy or Ki for his/her own healing but becomes connected to the ultimate source of all universal Ki/Chi or Life Force Energy. This energy then flows automatically into the recipient during a hands-on Reiki session.

Reiki is a laying on of the hands, healing system that has been traced back to ancient Tibet, thousands of years ago. Reiki was rediscovered in the 1800s by Dr. Mikao Usui of Japan. Reiki is a powerful natural system that unlocks the inner flow of vital energy through the hands of the Reiki practitioner into the body of the receiver-stimulating their own vital life force healing energy. Reiki is not a replacement for traditional medicine but an aide to it as it increases the effectiveness of medications, diffuses pain, reduces the need for anesthetic, and speeds up the healing process.

The Reiki practitioner does not need to know what is wrong with the person being worked on.  The energy knows as does the recipient’s own system and the energy will go where it is needed;

Reiki works in the body for 3 days after a session;

Reiki purifies and aligns every level of your being, breaking down old patterns of thinking, speaking, feeling and acting;

How long does a Reiki session take?

Typically the client will lie down on a comfortable massage table for the session. A full-body session lasts 1 hour.  Reiki can also be done on a specific area of concern or pain. 

Note: Clients remain fully clothed during each Reiki session.
